I originally ordered a GU64when they came back to me if I had patience I could get the Gen2 for the same price. Indeed it took a while but after hearing about the clogging of the original gen1 I think it was worth the wait. This my first flat burr so I can't really compare but seeing the prices for the majority of flat burr grinders I feel this is great value. The grind is very consistent, I use grind setting 20 - 25 for espresso, around 55 for Aeropress and around 65 - 70 for cafetiere. I like the fact that it does a little back-and-fore at the end of the grind to make sure the chute is cleared. I have a couple of comments to stop it from being 5 star;
* retention is not zero; I noticed that the web site is now updated saying 'with bellows' - well it doesn't come with bellows. After a clean, retention is between 5 and 10% something like 18g in, 16.5g out. After the first grind after a clean, it typically is close to in = out.
* at one point after a clean the anti-static didn't work - grinds flew everywhere. So much so that I had to hold the cup against the chute to avoid mess. Strangely after the next clean, anti-static works like a dream again. Possibly the little anti-static fork in the chute needed a clean?
Anyway, all in all very good value for a very good grinder - I'm happy with it and I don't feel the need to spent 5 - 10 times as much
