Peanut Butter Latte

Coffee recipes · Make it at home

A peanut butter latte has a creamy, nutty flavor with a double espresso underneath. Stirring peanut butter into a little hot coffee before adding milk is the easiest way to avoid clumps.

Ingredients & equipment

  • 1 double espresso
  • 1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter
  • 120–180 ml milk of your choice
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
  • Ice for an iced version; whisk or frother

How to make it

  1. Add smooth peanut butter to a heat-safe cup.
  2. Pull a double espresso directly over it or pour the warm shot in. Whisk until the peanut butter is dispersed. A teaspoon of warm milk may help.
  3. For a warm latte, add steamed milk. For an iced latte, let the mixture cool briefly, then pour over ice and add cold milk.
  4. Taste before adding honey or another sweetener. Peanut butter brands vary in added sugar and salt.

What if the peanut butter separates?

It is oily and will not always dissolve completely. Whisk more thoroughly while the espresso is warm; a handheld frother can create a smoother emulsion. Separation is a texture issue, not a reason to keep boiling the mixture.
